About
—-Japanese Daruma dolls are inspired by semi-legendary Bodhidharma, a Buddhist monk credited with founding Zen Buddhism. In Japan, Daruma dolls are a popular symbol of perseverance and good luck, with their round shape and inability to fall, representing resilience.
BEAMS JAPAN, with collaborations from Hyakka/Yujinart, Kimekomi* doll-maker with a history of
100 years, Kimekomi Darumas made with Nishijin-ori brocades are created.
In the packaging, the Daruma dolls come with 2 detached eyes. First, one of the eyes provided is placed on the left side and a wish is made. Then, when your wish comes true, the other eye is placed on the right side to make the Daruma’s face complete!
May your wish come true!
*Kimekomi means to tuck fabric into carved grooves.
